Ready, Set, Create: Knowledge Genie

A review of a brand new website that takes the tried and true way of doing things and makes it brand new again.

What is the best way to pass on knowledge from one person to the next?

What is the best way to teach, to perform a job, to solve a problem?

If you are a programmer you may remember some old programs like HyperCard and CanDo, if you’re a writer perhaps you remember such programs as DreamKit and Dramatica? These were software that helped you do whatever it was that you needed to do. Whether that was create a program to sell cars online, teach your 2nd grader math, write a short story, or plot out a novel.

What was the one thing all of these tools had in common? They all believed that the best approach to any job or problem, was to break it down into smaller more manageable parts. You could accomplish great tasks, one step at a time. And they let you look at your work in a way that allowed you to see what was weak, where some part needed to be fleshed out, and how it all came together as a whole.
Now, someone has done that today with Knowledge Genie.

Launched July 29, 2009 this digital publishing start-up has gone back to the basics when it comes to helping not just authors, but educators, spokesmen, and corporations create “Genies”, a way of interactively pulling together all the information someone wants to share with another, packaging it, and presenting it either for personal use, sharing with others, or for sale.

The brainchild of husband and wife team Milo and Thuy Sindell, authors and nationally recognized experts in employee performance and leadership development, Knowledge Genie is the tool for everyman to gather their expertise together, publish it, share it free, or sell it.

It will be the next generation corporate tool to train employees on everything from simple tasks and procedures, to supervisory skills, to mandatory Human Resource training.

Knowledge Genie is intuitive and user friendly. The application is as interactive as you need it to be. Not sure where to start? Allow it to walk you thru gathering the information you want to share. Do you know exactly what you want? Great, it will allow you to dig right in. It is structured to allow the learner to interact with the Genie, learn how to apply the knowledge, and then move on to more information. And you’re not just limited to text, with the ability to link to files, audio, video, images, internet resources, etc., Knowledge Genie can help you produce what you want the way you want it. Update it as often as you want.

For the writer the uses are plain. Lay out your stories, plot point by plot point, chapter by chapter. Decide something is in the wrong place, move things around, no problem.

But Knowledge Genie is for more people than just the author in need of help, or corporate manager looking for a new way to train employees.

Educators - Haven’t you wished you had the time to tutor all the students who need it? With Knowledge Genie create your own virtual tutoring courses for your students. Do you have advanced students in need of greater challenge? Create new coursework that can challenge them.

Knowledge Genie offers both free accounts and paid subscriptions. If you will be selling the Genies you create, or desire to have more than one active at a time, you will need a paid subscription. But the good news is that it is a flat rate, no nonsense about commissions or percentages of each sale.

Even better, get paid using Paypal, or Google Checkout. Add affiliate links to your Genie and collect unshared commissions. Sell your Genie on Amazon or other outlets or in the Genie Marketplace.
We are an online culture and more and more of what we do will in some way be affected by it. This new/old way of transferring and transforming knowledge from one person to another will become more commonplace in the years to come.
